Spelling words and homework.

Today's spelling test on sight words had mixed results. About half the students did exceptionally well. Unfortunately, some had a rough time. It's important to remember that each week's spelling words focus on a SOUND. Have your child focus on the letter combinations that make that sound. That way, s/he will recognize in the future when s/he hears the sound, how to write it.

Spelling words for next week use the sound [en/em].
  1. le temps
  2. le vent
  3. un enfant
  4. le parent
  5. la dent
  6. prendre
  7. vendre
  8. descendre
  9. comprendre
  10. trembler
Homework might be a tad challenging but I think that they're up to it! We have started our poetry unit and I'm asking students need to make a list of 3 pairs of words that rhyme (so 6 words in total). They are to put these words at the end of sentences (which of course can be silly) in order to make a poem. We have been working on rhyming words all week...

For example:

chaton - bonbon
bateau - chateau
alligator - castor

Then they put them into sentences:

Un jour un chaton
a mangé un bonbon.
Il a pris un bateau
pour aller au chateau.
Là il a vu un alligator
qui a mangé un castor.

Bonne chance!
