Just before March Break, the students had an opportunity to 'wet their palette' with colour mixing, through the use of food!  Students iced cookies by mixing colours together to explore different combinations.  The result was yummy they tell me!!

Scientist in the School.

Last week the students had a fantastic time with Scientist Karin, the Scientist in the School representative who came to run a workshop all about air and water in the environment. The students learned that both air and water take up space, are matter, have weight, and can do work for us. For example, air can be used to turn wind turbines and to create electricity; and both air and water can be used to lift a load.

Fractions unit.

Last week we started our math unit on fractions. In these photos you will see the students playing a game where they draw a fraction out of a bag and try to make one whole before their opponent. They absolutely loved playing the game and didn't even realize that they were learning different ways to make a whole from fractional parts! Yaaay for play-based learning!

La charpenterie "U Can Do It"

A very big thank you to our two parent volunteers,  David and Melissa, for their kind assistance today. The students had a blast while consolidating their learning about simple machines and mechanisms. I do hope that you enjoy their helicopter! Ask your child to name the simple machines that s/he built within it.
Here are some photos of the class enjoying their workshop!
