Local Tutor Available

I just wanted to let everyone know that an old student of Clairlea is offering her services as a tutor. She is currently in Grade 10 in a French Immersion high school and comes with a recommendation from me. She recently spent an afternoon volunteering in our classroom. If you are interested, you can ask your child about his/her experience and thoughts about her.

Homework:

Find rhyming words in the spelling list and make a poem with them by putting the rhyming words at the end of each line. The poem can be as silly as you like!

A very happy new year to all of you; hopefully the winter break was relaxing and a good opportunity for some great family fun!

Language points

With the start of a new year, comes a new points system for oral language in the classroom.  The expectation for Grade 2 French Immersion is that students speak only French in the classroom (with some exceptions as we learn new vocabulary, of course). When students use English in the classroom, they will accumulate points until they reach ten points.  At ten points, a note will be sent home to you (for your signature), acknowledging that they need to make more of an effort using French.  The goal is for you and I to encourage the students to make their best effort speaking French with myself and their classmates.

Parent Volunteers

On the morning of Tuesday, January 20, our class will participate in a science workshop on movement.  I am looking for 3 or 4 volunteers to come into our classroom to help run science centres (8:30 – 11:30). Please let me know if you’re interested/available!
